A

It was a sign to others that the people living in the house were infected with the plague. The words were a plea to God to let them live as at the time some people belived that the plague was a punishment from God.

A

It was because at the time, people didn’t know the cause of the plague, so most people believed that it was because of miasma which is bad air. People baught flowers or rolls of tobacco to get rid of the ‘bad air.’

  • He became King after Oliver Cromwell died because Cromwell’s son didn’t want the job.
  • He was known as the ‘Merry Monarch’. This is because he brought back all the entertainment and holidays Cromwell had banned.
