Q

Why was the Parliament worried when James II became King?

A
  • They were worried because they thought that James II would be just like his father and work without the parliament, starting another civil war.
  • James II was a Catholic and married a Catholic, having a Catholic son that pushed past his Protestant daughters. So they were worried that there would continue to be more Catholic kings and most of the parliament were Protestants so they didn’t want this.

Q

The Glorious Revolution was also known as the ‘Bloodless Revolution’. Explain this other name.

A

This is because there was no fighting at all. After John Churchill swapped sides, joining Mary and William, James II realised that he couldn’t beat them so fled with his wife and son to France. Due to the lack of fighting, there was no death or injuries, meaning that it was bloodless.
