Marques De Rubi – Who was he, what did he do, what did he recommend?

A

Marques De Rubi was appointed to tour the Spanish Missions by request of the King. His inspection took a long time and he returned to Mexico City. Had requests for the missions. Wanted to abandon missions. He was a Spanish nobleman and military figure.

Adams-Onis treaty – Details of the Treaty

A

The Adams-Onis Treaty in 1819 set the boundary between the U.S., Spain, and France. America gave up ALL of its land claims to Texas. The Sabine River is the boundary. Florida is owned by the U.S..

7 years’ war – Who was it between, when was it, what were the results of the war?

A

Great Britain won this war. This was between Britain and France. They granted control of Canada and all land east of the Mississippi River. They also got Florida from Spain. For an exchange, Spain got control over Louisiana, New Orleans, and the Mississippi River Delta. The East land of Louisiana was now known as the Mississippi River. This war was from 1756 to 1763.

Augustin De Iturbide – What was his plan for Mexican Independence

A

Around 1821- Augustin De Iturbide issued a three part plan on how the Mexican people can gain independence from Spain.
Part one- If and when Mexico defeats Spain in battle, Mexico will remain an independent country. Wanted to walk completely away from Spain.
Part two- Everyone in Mexico will be treated equally and fairly.
Part three- Mexico will remain Roman Catholic.
August 24, 1821, the Treaty of Córdoba was signed. His plan worked, won the war, and the Treaty made Mexico an independent country. Mexico is now an independent country.He declared himself as emperor of Mexico in 1822.

Louisiana Purchase

A

The United States purchased the Louisiana territory after Spain gave it to the French. People now wanted to migrate to Spanish Texas across the Mississippi River. Spain wanted their own land, so they didn’t like that people were coming in. This was harmful to Texas.
