Fredonian Rebellion

A

Mexico canceled Haden Edwards’ land contract and supporters got mad. They started a rebellion and called themselves “independent”. They even had a Declaration of Independence and a flag. They asked Stephen F. Austin to help them, but he sided on Mexico and helped them put it down. When the Mexicans caught them, they fled across the Sabine River but some were arrested.

Law of April 6th, 1830

A

The Law of April 6, 1830. First thing, they outlaw immigration from the U.S. Second thing, it’s going to encourage immigrantion from Europeans families and Mexican families. Third thing, they place an extra tax on imported goods. Along with laws, they also get soldiers around the area to help with these laws and build tents.

Turtle Bayou Resolutions

A

Santa Anna won the revolt against Bustamante in Turtle Bayou. On June 13, 1832, people met and adopted the Turtle Bayou Resolutions. This declared Texas’s loyalty to Mexico, but not to the Mexican government. The Texans stated their support for Santa Anna and Mexico’s Federalists.
