What is the difference between a law and an amendment?
A law is a bill that gets passed and an ammendment is a change to existing law
How does an amendment get proposed?
By 2/3 of congress or 2/3 of the state
How does an amendment then get ratified?
By 3/4 of the states legislature
What five civil liberties does the 1st ammendment protect?
Freedom of speech, religioun, assembly, press, and petition of the gov’t
What does the 2nd Amendment give you the right to own?
GUNS BABY
What does the 4th Amendment protect you from? (Placed as a result of the Sugar Act)
Protects against unreasonable searchers and seizures without probable cause
What Amendment is important for people accused of committing crimes?
The 5th ammendment

Due process of law

The 6th ammendment
What does the 9th Amendment keep the government from doing?
Prevents the gov’t from claiming the Bill of Rights, the only rights americans have

States could be used as protection against the powers of a national gov’t

George Washington and John Adams
What did each department of the Executive Branch deal with?
State- handle relations with other nations
Treasury- deals with financial matters
War- deals with nations defense
