Define human resource manager.
Coordinates all the activities involved in acquiring, developing, maintaining and terminating employees from an organisations human resources.
Define human resource management.
Define as the effective management of the formal relationship between the employer and employees.
Define diversity.
Refers to the differences between employees in an organisation, encompassing characteristics such as race, gender, ethnic group, age, disability, sexual orientation, the terms of employment, personality and education.
Define flexible working conditions.
Are conditions that allow employees to balance work and family responsibilities more effectively.
Define work life balance.
Is about achieving the right amount of time for work and for personal or family life (must address both the employees and the organisation when answering this type of question).
Define occupational health and safety(OH&S).
Refers to the responsibility the employer has to ensure the workplace is safe for employees and that steps are taken to minimise harm.
Define job security.
Is the belief that the employee will not lose their job.
Define motivation.
Refers to the individual, internal process that directs, energises and sustains a persons behaviour.
Define hierarchy of needs.
Is Maslow’s sequence of human needs in the order of their importance.
Define motivation hygiene theory.
Is the idea that satisfaction and dissatisfaction are caused by separate sets of factors.
Define hygiene factors.
Refer to the environment in which people work and include physical conditions, pay, job security, interpersonal relations and job status.
Define motivation factors.
Relate to a persons type of work and include a sense of achievement, recognition, challenging work, responsibility and opportunities for advancement.
