What is an ion?
An ion is an atom (or a group of atoms) that has gained or lost one or more electrons.
What happens if an atom loses electrons?
It becomes positively charged.
What is a positively charged atom called?
A cation.
What happens if an atom gains electrons?
It becomes negatively charged
What is a negatively charged atom called?
An anion.
