1 - 6a.

A

(1)
- Cicero argues by reflecting what someone who had no idea of their customs or laws would think when hearing of the crime
- As the trial is being held during a public festival (the Megalenses), he says that a foreigner would think a serious crime had taken place (due to the gravity of the law which usually would be charged for citizens attacking the state) and he would seek to know the grounds
- he would come to find out that no serious crime is being tried rather a young man of ‘brilliant intelect’ and ‘remarkable application’ was being tried by the son of a man he had tried and was in the proccess of trying, above all he was being attacked by the wealth of a prostitute.
