Civil law related to disputes between 2 parties. The person whose rights have been infringed seeks to sue the other party for the damage done.
The main objective of civil law is to return the rights that have been infringed.

What is criminal law
A
Relates to actions or omissions against society. The police take an offender to court on behalf of society, it is not the victims choice to press charges. The aim of criminal law is to punish people who have broken the law and deter others from doing the same.
