Q

a strength of CBT as a treatment for SZ

A

P: (CBT) as a treatment for schizophrenia is that it is widely available on the NHS, making it more accessible to patients.
E: Since CBT is offered through the NHS, it is free at the point of use, meaning patients do not have to worry about the financial burden of private therapy.
E: While the medication helps reduce biological symptoms like hallucinations, CBT can help patients challenge and manage their distorted thinking, leading to better overall outcomes
L:Therefore,This increases the practicality and appropriateness of CBT as a treatment option, especially when used alongside antipsychotic medication.

Q

what is a limitation of CBt as a treatment for CBT

A

P:A limitation of CBT as a treatment for schizophrenia is that not all patients are able to benefit from it.
E: CBT requires active engagement, communication, and insight into one’s thoughts, which can be difficult for individuals experiencing severe symptoms like disorganised thinking or lack of motivation.
E; This means that while CBT may be effective for some, it is not suitable for all patients, particularly those in acute phases of the illness
L: As a result, its overall usefulness as a treatment may be limited.
