Relationship between USA+USSr: Cuban missile crisis
the Cuban Missile Crisis, brought the USA and USSR to the brink of nuclear war. The USSR had placed nuclear missiles in Cuba, . After a tense standoff and negotiations, the crisis was resolved when the USSR agreed to remove the missiles in exchange for a U.S. promise not to invade Cuba and the secret removal of U.S. missiles from Turkey.

Sometimes these countries erupted into civil war, in which the superpowers got involved in proxy wars, conflicts in which the superpowers provided support to different sides but did not engage each other directly. They each backed governments that supported their side in the Cold War
