Background

A

Despite the USA and the USSR having a well-known history of dispute between the two countries, during WW2 the two superpowers both successfully fought together against the Nazis. However, since the Russian revolution of 1917, both the USA and the USSR had separated in their ideological views. Russia went down the ideological path of Marxism-Leninism whilst their American counterparts continued down the path of capitalism.
