No - if you try and enter a TDN that's already registered to another radio, you will hear a beep and the number will not be accepted.

How do you de-register a TDN on a Portable radio?

Press the yellow button 3 times

If a train is not equipped with DTRS how can it be stopped if a REC call is made?

It must be stopped by other means as described in the Book of Rules and Operating Procedures.

When making a REC call, what do you need to do to speak? (2)

1. Press the PTT button and wait for display to change 2. Wait until the word SPEAK appears in the right hand corner under the TDN

What will show on the cab radio if someone else is talking on a REC call?

Busy

How do you make a REC call on a portable radio? (2)

Press the REC button for 2 continuous seconds AND press the PTT button within 2 seconds

What will happen if you don't press the PTT button on a portable phone within 2 seconds when making a REC call?

the call will be cancelled

What happens if you make a REC call in error?

State REC call made in error.

What happens when a REC call is being transmitted?

- Message 'Incoming call is received' - Words Incoming will be flashing - Loud emergency tone is broadcast for approx. 5 seconds

What happens if I can't answer the incoming REC call within 5 seconds?

It will auto answer

If there is no immediate danger reported as part of the REC and you are mid route, what are you able to do?

- Proceed at EXTREME CAUTION (max 25km/h) to the first signal displaying stop or station or before point of danger

If there is a REC call, can you enter the MURL?

No unless instructed by the Train Controller.

What happens if there is no communication received from the initiator of the REC call?

- Train controller must establish contact with the REC initiator immediately to establish the origin of the call - Train controller may authorise a train/s to proceed towards this location at extreme caution (max 25km/h) to inspect the line and attempt to make contact with the REC initiator

If you switch modes from DTRS to LTR, how long will it take to revert back to DTRS mode if there is no transmission?

10 seconds

What is the maximum continuous transmission time of an LTR call?

30 seconds
