What is clock speed?
Clock speed refers to the frequency at which a computer’s central processing unit (CPU) can execute instructions. It is measured in hertz (Hz) and represents the number of clock cycles the CPU can complete in one second. The clock speed determines how fast the CPU can process information and execute instructions, which affects the computer’s overall performance. Generally, the higher the clock speed, the faster the CPU can perform operations and the faster the computer can run. Note that 1 GHz is equal to one billion Hz.
What is throttling down?
Throttling down the clock speed refers to reducing the operating frequency of a computer’s processor or central processing unit (CPU) to manage heat and power consumption. CPUs are designed to operate within a specific range of clock speeds, and running them at higher frequencies can generate much heat and consume more power.
