What is Confusion?

A

Confusion is when a person has trouble thinking clearly or understanding what is happening around them.

Also called disorientation - A symptom of an underlying medical condition can be caused by physiological changes in the brain.

Differentiate between Disorientation (confusion), Delirium, and Dementia

A

● Disorientation (Confusion): When someone is unsure about time, place, or who they are. It’s a symptom, not a disease.

● Delirium: A sudden change in thinking and behavior causing confusion. It can usually be treated and reversed.

● Dementia: A slow, ongoing decline in memory and thinking that affects daily life. It is usually not reversible.
