Who is the Caregiver?
A caregiver is someone who provides care and support to another person who needs help with daily tasks.
This could be a family member, friend, or professional
Who is generally referred to as the sandwich generation?
The sandwich generation includes adults who are caring for their aging parents while also raising their own children.
How can we support the family caregivers?
● Encourage self-care
● Support mental and emotional health
● Encourage spiritual well-being: connect with culture, traditions, or faith.
● Remind them to ask for help: from family, friends, or community services.
Define compassion fatigue and how to prevent and manage it?
Emotional and physical exhaustion from caring for others over time.
Prevention and management:
● Take care of yourself (rest, eat well, exercise).
● Talk to someone about your feelings (counseling or debriefing).
● Set emotional boundaries in caregiving.
● Take breaks and time for activities you enjoy.
Define Burnout and how to prevent and manage it?
Burnout is a state of emotional and physical exhaustion caused by prolonged stress.
Prevention and management:
● Manage your workload and say no when needed.
● Take regular breaks and vacations.
● Speak up for changes in your environment (like more support or resources).
