Which contraceptive method is unacceptable if you want to get pregnant within the next year?

A

The injection

All other forms stop working as soon as you stop taking them, the injection can take 2-15months to clear and for ovulation to resume

When is the COCP contraindicated?

A

(Anything that increases risk of clots)
- Migraine with aura
- Atrial fibrillation
- Breast cancer
- Impaired cardiac function

Contains lactose

Risk with BMI >35, multiple risk factors for heart disease, organ transplant, undiagnosed breast mass, genetic predisposition for breast cancer

  • Ulipristal Acetate: delays ovulation (up to 120 hours after)
  • Levonorgestrel: delays ovulation (up to 72 hours after)
