2
Q

What is the definition of a variable and variability?

A

Variables are an n event or behavior that has at least two values. Variability is the degree to which we find differences among scores for a variable with a particular set of individuals.

6
Q

What is observational and relational (correlational) research?

A

Observational-intended just to describe a particular group of people;e in some point in time.
Relational(correlational)- understanding relationship between/among variables.

8
Q

What is correlational research?

A

Two different variables are measured for each individual in the sample and the relationship between them is examined.

Q

During experimental research , describe independent and dependent variable?

A

Q

Explain Expermental conditions, controlled connnditions and mesurments?

A

Experimental conditions- where we change something and see if there is an effect.
Control condition- is the baseline condition

Q

Scale of measurement:nominal scale and ordinal scale

A

Nominal-Label and categorize observations with no quantitive distinctions (color, gender)
Ordinal- Categories organized in an ordered sequence term of size or magnitude(year in school, place in race)

Q

Scale of measurement continued: interval and ratio scale

A

Interval- ordered categories that are all intervals of exactly the same size, arbitrary zero( can be zero or lower, like Fahrenheit temp.)
Scale/ratio- interval scale with an absolute zero point, meaningful ratios.(height, weight)
