Digestive System2 Flashcards
(41 cards)
Esophagus
Function, secrete mucus and transport food. pharynx to esophagus / behind mediastinum to stomach
Layers of the esophagus
- Relax muscular layer / tooth paste tube pushing food down
- layer longitunial muscle contractions / moves up and down
- layer lower esophagus 2 of them, its to open and close the esophagus
Stomach location
Esophagus –> duodenum
Largest distensible 5 to 6 litters of storage
Greater curvature lateral convex and Lesser curvature Medial side smaller curvature
J shaped
Cardia
Notch attached to Heart
Fundus
storage location
Largest and most important part in The stomach
The body
Each pyloric
Pyloric antrum, pyloric canal, pyloric sphincter
Cardiac Sphincter
closest to heart. It closes the sphincter so no flexus flows back in esophagus
GERD
Gastro esophageal reflux disease
Hiatal Hernia
top part of stomach poke through diaphragm
Gastric folds of mucosa (rugae)
Longitudinal folds to allow stretching
3 layers of muscle
Circular layer, oblique layer, longitudinal layer they all contract automatically
functions of Stomach
mixer, reservoir, creates chyme, secretes gastric juice, some absorption in small intestine
Gastric pits
Colombes of simple columnar cells
Gastric glands –> secrete gastrin activates 3,4 cells
Surface mucous cell
producing mucus
mucous neck
producing mucus
Parietal cells:
HCI breaking down cells IF. Vitamin D12
Chief cells
P, GL breaking down proteins and glyceride
G cells
P, HCI
Duodenum
25cm long, from pyloric sphincter down to small intestine / C and maybe U shaped
Head of pancreas
pancreas points towards laterally to spleen
Connection with duodenum and Pancreas
connected by ducts called: Pancreatic duct - connects bile duct to the hepatopancreatic ampulla guarded by sphincter of hepatopancreatic ampulla
Where is Bile created
in the liver stored in bladder
