Q

E-1 When and why do we transition to HL recirc?

A

7 hours due to Boron plating which reduces heat transfer

Q

E-1 Why is a cold leg LOCA the most impactful?

A

Cross under loop creates loop seal therefore, energy cannot be removed. Pressure rises and core level loweres in the vessel.

On natural circ - Tcold will be colder than with an RCP running. Colder = more dense = more mass loss

6
Q

What differentiate a Small vs LBLOCA?

A

Leak
Within Charging system capability

SMBLOCA:
3/8” diameter (UFSAR)
No RHR
Charging cannot maintain

LBLOCA:
1’ diameter (UFSAR)
RHR Flow >400gpm and RCS P < RHR (EOP)

Q

Cold Leg recirc TCA

A

5 min - swap to cold leg recirc
5 min - CTS to recirc sump
15 min after cold leg recirc - adjust CCW to RHR to 5000g prevent runout if pump fails

Q

Spray TCA

A

50/70hr place RHR Spray I/s (50 - ensure core heat removal 70 protect cnmt)
6-22hr H2 recombines (6 cnmt heat / 22 cnmt pressure)
24 hr - CTS / RHR Spray needs to be I/s for CR dose

12
Q

What are accumulator limits and why?

A

Level 921ft - 971ft - low lvl not enough to cover to core mid-plane / hi not enough N2 to inject
Pressure - Low no inject into RCS / Hi to much will dump

Accum outlet valves closed RCS < 150 - prevent N2 from injecting

16
Q

What are the indications of a LOCA?

A

RCS P, PRZ lvl SG press lower

CNMT P, CNMT Sump, CNMT Rad

17
Q

E-1 What is the purpose of Step 9 loop?

A

Ensure in correct procedure. If SG P is lowering or RCS P rising go to step 1 and Check for faulted SG that is still blowing down. When SG is done blowing down E-1 Si termination criteria will be met which are less restrictive than ES1.2 criteria (if you continue past step 9)

18
Q

If in E-1 and RCS P is >300# where will you go?

A

ES1.2 post LOCA cool down

19
Q

If in E-1 and RCS P <300# where will you go?

A

ES 1.3 then back to E-1
