A set of combined arms activities that use or enhance the effects of natural and men obstacles to prevent the enemy, freedom of movement and maneuver.
What is a covert obstacle?
Hidden or inconspicuous until dealt with
What is an overt obstacle?
Obvious obstacles, drive adversary decision-making, which may be exploited
What is a protective obstacle?
Protective obstacles are employed to protect people, equipment, supplies, and facilities against threats. They have two primary roles

What is a tactical obstacle?
The primary purposes of tactical obstacles are to shape, enemy maneuver, and to maximize the effects of fires
What is an existing obstacle?
Our inherent aspects of the terrain, that impede movement and maneuver. Maybe natural (rivers, mountains, wooded areas) or man made (bridges, canals, railroads, and associated embankments)
What is a reinforcing obstacle?
Reinforcing obstacles are man-made off schools that strengthen existing terrain to achieve desired effect

Describe protective wire obstacles
Why are obstacles which are designed to protect friendly fighting positions. They are designed to disrupt enemies final assault.
Describe tactical wire obstacles
These wire obstacles are constructed to achieve the desired obstacle effect for a given location.
Define supplementary wire obstacles
Supplementary wire obstacles are designed to conceal tactical wire obstacles. These obstacles prevent enemy from determining the platoon commanders, desired obstacle effects.
