Transatlantic Slave Trade (triangular trade)
Trade system between Europe, Africa and the Americas
Goods and resources were sent from Europe to Africa; enslaved people were taken to the Americas to work the land and produce resources that were sent back to Europe.
The Middle Passage was one leg of this trade route
Jamestown, Virginia
the first permanent English settlement, founded in 1607 by the Virginia Company for economic reasons
Plymouth colony
A colony established by the English Pilgrims, or Separatists, in 1620. The Separatists were Puritans who abandoned hope that the Anglican Church could be reformed. Plymouth became part of Massachusetts in 1691.

Ended French and Indian War, France lost Canada, land east of the Mississippi, to British, New Orleans and west of Mississippi to Spain
Navigation acts
Laws that governed trade between England and its colonies. Colonists were required to ship certain products exclusively to England. These acts made colonists very angry because they were forbidden from trading with other countries.

The first bloodshed of the American Revolution (1770), as British guards at the Boston Customs House opened fire on a crowd killing five Americans

War fought between the American colonies and England. American colonies won war and gained independence and British land in North America. (date)

a system where citizens elect individuals to act on their behalf and make decisions in government, rather than directly voting on every issue themselves

protected all men and woman who belong to the christian religion. did not accept bad talk about the religion or else there would be consequences.

virginia colonists took the first step towards republican government when they instituted the colonies first law making body. first legislative body in virginia.

prohibited permanent colonial expansion west of the ridge of the appalachian mountains.
