A

  • Teachers often attach such labels regardless of a pupils ability
  • they label pupils based on stereotyped assumptions about class (eg w/c is negative m/c positive)

  • used US primary school students
  • found that teacher used information from children’s homes used to put them on particular tables
  • eg Tiger Table (neat and tidy, m/c, seated close to teachers) Clown Table (troublesome, w/c, would not and could not learn)
