A

feminism showed abilities of women and aspired girls but now girls were given the same opportunities, however at schools senior management was predominately males

A
  • families income affects children’s happiness and concentration
  • divorce causes anxiety, causes struggle to manage time etc
  • girls in single parent families are more determined and push themselves
  • children with 1 or 0 parents are more likely to get suspended

How does changes in women’s employment/equal opportunities affect girls education?

A
  • more women are doing better paid jobs so therefore girls push themselves in school and have higher ambitions
  • women’s can work more which meant they could earn more, so they concentrated more
    HOWEVER
    men still still hold the higher positions

Women are starting to have ambitions so they are able to support themselves rather than relying on a man

A
  • the National curriculum was introduced in 1988 allowing subjects to be available for both genders
  • policies such as GIST (Girls Into Science and Tech) and WISE (Women In Science and Engineering)

How does GCSE and coursework affect women’s education?

A
  • Girls were generally better at coursework because they are better organised
  • they tend to spend more of their time working or revising, take more care with presentations and meet deadlines on time
  • oral exams have been introduced when females excel as they have better language skills

  • there are more female teachers in school than male

- schools bring in more female role models to encourage girls whether their ambitions are traditional or not
