Q

describe articulation of elbow joint

A

elbow joint is a synovial modified hinge joint uniaxial

joint line 2cm below medial epicondyle and 1cm below lateral epicondyle

articulation is convex trochlea of distal humerus articulating with concave trochlea notch of proximal ulna

convex capitulum of distal humerus articulating with concave proximal head of radius

4
Q

whats a carry angle

A

carry angle 10-15 degrees in men in women is 20-25

medial edge of trochlea projecting distally
disappears full flexion and pronation on extension

6
Q

what ligaments are there

A

ulna (medial) collateral ligament=
thick triangular band which fans from medial epicondyle and has anterior, posterior and intermediate portions.
inserts into medial aspect of coronoid process and olecranon

radial collateral ligament= (prevents varus strain)
single triangular thickened band from lateral epicondyle to annular ligament
