Q

What are insulators?

A

Insulators prevent heat or electricity loss, it will not permit the transfer of energy. Eg: rubber, plastic, wood, glass

Q

What are conductors?

A

They let heat or electricity pass through. Mostly they are metal apart from graphite. Conductors permit the transfer of energy in a number of forms eg. Thermal, electrical and sound. Examples: aluminium rod, silver, gold, tin, foil, nail

Q

Other information about electric currents?

A

.It has the same value at all points in a series circuit.
.Depends on the number and voltage of cells and the number and nature of other components in he circuit
.The current does not get used up by he circuit, just the energy that the electrons are carrying.

Q

What is voltage?

A

The energy carried by each coulomb of charge from the power supply to the other components in the circuit..it is the energy of a circuit. In water model, the pump makes water move, gives it energy like a cell giving electrical current in a circuit. The flow of water is the current. The waterfall is where energy gets used up. The voltage is the amount of energy in the flow.

Q

Is the current (measured by an ammeter) the same all the way through?

A

Yes the current has the same value at all points in a series circuit. In a parallel it is different, depending on how many different sections there are.
