Light And Reflection Flashcards
(5 cards)
How do we see things?
Some objects make light (are luminous). Some objects reflect light better, these can be made from shiny materials. Light clothes are easier to spot.
Why do we see non luminous objects?
The light shines on them and some of it bounces off , light scattered from them enters the eye.
How is light transmitted through various materials?
Eg, glass, wood, light objects, dark objects?
Light passes through transparent material such as glass - light is transmitted.
Wood etc do not let light through and is opaque - light is absorbed.
Light materials reflect more light than dark.
Tracing paper etc allows light to pass through but breaks it up and scatters it in all directions, it is translucent.
How does light travel?
In a straight line at a finite speed in a uniform medium .
What is the law if reflection?
On a plane surface the angle of reflection is always equal to the angle of incidence.
