2
Q

why do atoms have no overall charge?

A
  • because the number of protons/ atomic number is the same as the number of electrons meaning the atom will have no overall charge

4
Q

how might the electronic configuration change?

A
  • due to absorption of electromagnetic radiation which will cause the electrons to move higher in energy levels further away from the nucleus
  • may also change the emission of electromagnetic radiation, meaning electrons will move to lower energy levels so closer to the nucleus

Q

difference between stable and neutral in chemistry:

A
  • neutral refers to the overall charge of the atom
  • stabelk refers to the internal structure of the atom e.g how conductive it is due to the energy levels
