1563 - poor split into deserving and idle poor. Poor relief set up.

1572 - Vagabonds whipped and burned through the ear, imprisoned and then executed. National poor rate created.

1576 - JPs gave able bodied poor materials to make and sell things. Those who refused were sent to house of correction.

1583 - Throckmorton was go-between of Duke of Guise and Pope. Throckmorton tortured and executed after discovered by Sir Francis Walsingham.
