Laryngospasm
treatment -
increase O2, Double-handed mask with jaw thrust to try and break it (still desating)
IV access? Props should do it (Sux as backup)
No IV access? IM Sux

All of a sudden, can’t breath
Swelling, drop in blood pressure. And increase HR. Rash!!
Possibly going straight into VF arrest.

Analphylaxis
treatment -
Intubate as soon as you can
Draw up epinephrine to give IM (for time)”, 1mq in 1,000 (half an ampoule).
If VF.. get on that chest.
Don’t forget the card!! And documentation on tms q
Art line and ABG. Defib on? Talk to the anaesthetist

Drop in BP
Metallic taste in their mouth, numbness, tinnitus.
Diaphoreses and possible nausea
Confusion. Seizures?

Local Toxicity Treatment
treatment-
treat awake, get the LH box and the defib. put on, full monitoring
Intralipids in, via a pump, it’s in a black bag, protected from the light

Rapid rise in body temp. Increase in CO2, tachycardia, muscle rigidity, breathing problems.

A

Malignant Hyperthermia
treatment -
Ice and defib, MH kit
Dantrolene and assign someone to start mixing it up,
-Catheter and fluids, art line and cvc line set up, ABG when available to confirm (Ca, K+ and Cr)
-rotem, check anaesthetic record

Decrease O2 sats, pt actively regurgitating

A

Aspiration
-Call for help to get the patient lateral with head down.
-Suction
-Monitor and communicate with doc whether to continue procedure.
-Intubate
