What is employee participation?
This is used to involve employees in decision making e.g. appraisals, training, delegation, emplowering, flexible working hours
What are methods of employee participation?
Worker director, works councils, consultative comitees, quality circles, open door management, trade union representation and consultation
Worker-director:
This is when a low level employee is given a seat on the BOD which makes them feel involved in decision making
Works councils:
This is when equal numbers of employees and managers come together for suggestions of change which reduces resistance to change
Consultative committees:
This is when a member of the public is involved in issues or changes e.g a consultation with a neighbour if there is road construction
Quality circles:
Employees bare consulted on how to improve qualityso they feel valued
Open door management:
This is when managers meet with employees at an appropriate time
Trade union representation:
Employees benefit from collective management power
Consultation:
Employees are consulted about mainly day-to-day impacts which leads to positive employee relations
