The process of looking for potential employees to apply for a particular job in an organisation (internally or externally)

Staff noticeboard, organisation’s intranet, email and company newsletter

A
Job centres, newspapers, websites and recruitment agencies

What are benefits of internal recruitment?
A
- The vacancy is filled quickly
- Less costly as you don’t need to pay recruitment costs
- All candidates are known by the business (less training, trustworthy)
- Employees are motivated to word harder by potential promotion opportunities (productivity)

- Creates another vacancy in the business
- Leads to resentment and rivalry between staff
- Lack of diversity/ no new innovation and organisation becomes stale
- Narrow pool of candidates

- Fresh blood, new ideas/innovations so no new vacancy
- Reduced internal competition
- Wider pool of candidates with variety of skills/qualities
- May be better qualified and experienced for the job

- Time consumign to carry out
- Costly to advertise
- Staff unset due to no new promotions
- Doesn’t know candidate and candidate doesn’t know business
