What is the endocrine system?
a network of glands across the body that secrete chemical messengers called hormones
How does the endocrine system transport hormones?
through blood vessels
Where is the hypothalamus found?
in the lower central part of the brain and is connected to the pituitary gland
what does the hypothalamus do?
secretes hormones that stimulate and control the release of hormones from pituitary gland
what’s another name for the hypothalamus?
a control system that regulate endocrine system
What does the pituitary gland do?
is known as the master gland. it secretes hormones that control and stimulate the release of hormones from other glands in endocrine system
what are the two parts of the pituitary gland?
the anterior and posterior lobes, each of them release different hormones

What releases adrenaline and noradrenaline?
the adrenal medulla
What does the adrenal cortex release and do?
the cortex releases corticosteroids which regulate the body’s metabolism
What does the testes release?
Testosterone
What releases hormones that control the menstrual cycle?
Ovaries
