Q

how is electricity generated in hydroelectric and tidal?

A

water is used to turn turbines, energy in KE store of the water is transferred to the KE store of the turbine, then to the KE store of the generator then transferred electrically to the national grid

Q

how is energy created from fossil fuels??

A

combusted to heat water- steam produced can be used to turn turbines
energy from chemical store- thermal store water- KE store of turbine- KE store of generator- electrically to national grid

Q

how is electricity generated in geothermal?

A

produces steam to turn the turbines, water is pumped down to the hot rocks and returns through a fissure as steam
cold water is heated by the rocks and returned as hot water/steam- used to turn turbines to generate electricry
