Q

Describe two possible benefits of drinking water during a triathalon

A
  • Replenishes stores of water lost through sweating - rigorous physical activity causes the athlete to sweat, reducing the amount of water in the body. If there isn’t enough water to sweat, the body may overheat. Drinking water during this can prevent it.
  • Increased blood flow to the working muscles, so more oxygen transported to working muscles so that they can work aerobically for longer.
