Assumes that there is an increasing deterioration of standards as a result of competition pressures. Is this a result of globalization? Or does globalization provide solutions for this?
Global Governance vs Global Government
Global governance is simply institutionalization as a solution to solve problems that affect multiple states. It is not global government because they do not have any monopoly of power, states do.
Liberalism and Environment
They believe cooperation and agreements on norms are possible between states.
Marxism and Environment
Sees global capitalism as reproducing relationships that are damaging to the environment
Realists and Environment
Recognize that the environment can increase interstate warfare, but are always skeptical of cooperation.
Deep Ecology
Resists notions that humans are superior to earth or animals. Calls for alliances of socialists to recognize capitalism as a system which is dependent upon technology which is prone to centralized control, consumerism.
Montreal Protocol 1987
CFCs banned in 90s. It was thinning the ozone layer. Example of how the global sphere was able to phase out something bad for everyone.
Kyoto Protocol
An agreement that aimed to reduce carbon emissions. US dropped out because of unequal distribution to China and India.
Historical and Modern Emissions
Developed nations started the industrial age which is responsible for climate change, many think they should have more responsibility. Now, developing countries emit more, so some think they should be responsible.
