Enzymes Flashcards

(7 cards)

1
Q

Effects of temperature

A

As the temperature increases, the rate of reaction increases up to a certain point called the optimum temperature, the temperature enzymes work best at, and when this is exceeded enzymes change shape and there is not the correct active site to create enzyme - substrate complexes.

Q

Effects of pH

A

The pH affects the bonds which holds the enzymes shape. If the enzyme is in a lower or higher pH than it should be, the active site could change meaning enzyme-substrate complex molecules cant form as the substrate wont be able to fit in the active sight anymore.
