Genetics And Evolution Flashcards
1
Q
What is a fossil?
A
A fossil is the remains of an organism from millions of years ago. Found in rocks and ice
2
Q
What do fossils give us?
A
They give us information about organisms that lived millions of years ago
3
Q
Why is it difficult for scientists to know exactly how life began?
A
This is because there is little valid evidence. The life forms that were first here on earth were soft bodied so they left few traces that were most likely destroyed in geological activity
4
Q
How may fossils be formed?
A
Fossils may be formed due to the absence of decay, replaced as minerals as they decay, and as preserved traces.
