Q

Lining applicator

A

Apply lining in a concise manner, perfecting the amount required

17
Q

Restorative material applicator

A

Directly apply to the required area

18
Q

What items are required for finishing/polishing?

A

Polishing discs
Burrs - smoothen down

19
Q

Tofflemire matrix holder and band

A

Used to contain filling material to go on edges that are being restored
Most commonly mesial or distal

20
Q

Siqveland matrix holder and band

A

Used for posterior restorations and can be adjusted to suit every size tooth and restoration needed

21
Q

Wedges

A

Put under matrix bands to prevent composite leaking onto adjacent teeth
Tightens the band to the tooth

22
Q

Transparent strips

A

Used on front teeth/ areas that are visible
Allows the filling material to be light cured through the strip

23
Q

Single-use assembled matrix systems

A

Disposable and hygienic
Can be cut or adjusted to the patients needs

24
Q

Etchant

A

Prepares the cavity for the filling
Chemically roughens the surface of the cavity to prepare for the sealant/filling material

25
Bonding agent
Secure the composite to the tooth Is used after the etch
26
Dental amalgamator
Used to mix/prepare GIC or amalgam capsules
27
What are the advantages & disadvantages for using amalgam?
Better for deeper cavities and areas that are hard to keep dry Unsightly & exposure to mercury
28
What are the advantages & disadvantages for using composite?
Stronger and longer lasting. Can be matched to tooth shade Cannot be used on deep fillings due to composite shrinkage. Take longer to put in
29
What are the advantages & disadvantages for using GIC?
Quick to apply. Can be used as a temporary fix. Can be used on deeper cavities, as well as a lining material for a composite filling Only semi-permanent and not as strong as composite
30
What are the advantages & disadvantages of temporary cement?
Is a temporary agent to hold a temporary crown in place when waiting for the final fit appointment Can come loose
31
What is the purpose of a zinc based liner?
Provides thermal insulation and can provide protection to the pulp during direct or indirect pulp capping
32
What is the purpose of calcium hydroxide?
Can provide medicinal effects to cavities that are at risk of bacterial infection
