What is an exponent?
An exponent (or power) Indicates how many times to multiply the base by itself
How is the exponent notation written?
The exponent is written as a small superscript to the right of the base
in bn, what are the base and the exponent?
Imagine the n of bn is small and up high
The base (b), is the number being multiplied, and the exponent (n) tells how many times to use b in multiplication
How do you write squared (in exponent)
Add a small 2 to the right of the base
How do you write cubed (in exponents)?
Add a small 3 to the right of the base

expanded form shows the full multiplication of the base
