A

Frontal belly:
Pulls the scalp anteriorly
Wrinkles the forehead
Protects the scalp
Elevates the eyebrows
Motor Supply by the temporal branch of CN VII

Occipital Belly:
Pulls the scalp posteriorly smoothing the forehead
Motor supply by the posterior auricular nerve of CN VII

Platysma

A

Thin Sheet muscle located in the superficial fascia of the neck
From the base of the mandible, cheek, lower lip, angle of the mouth and orbicular ores to the deltopectoral fascia

Function:
Tenses the skin producing vertical skin ridges
Helps depress the mandible and draw the corner of the mouth inferiorly

Motor innervation:
Cervical branch of VII

Sensory innervation:
Transverse cervical nerve
Supraclavicular nerves
