compare serving size on package to amount you consume, if you eat amount you get calories/nutrients listed if you eat twice as much double all caloriws etc
calories and % daily value
amount of energy in the food, per serving, 0% - 100% will tell if there is little or a lot of the nutrient, 5% DV is little, 15% DV is alot
nutrients
try to get more of: fibre, vitamin A C, iron, calcium
try to get less of: fat, saturated fat, trans fat, sodium, cholesterol
sodium claims
source of fibre - at least 2g of fibre
low fat - 3g or less
cholesteral free - less than 2mg cholesteral and 2g or less saturated and trans fats
sodium free - contains less than 5mg
light - fat or calories reduced bt at least 25%
