Lifestyle factors
Age 20-40
Approximately 10-15% of population
May be linked to active lifestyle, soccer, taekwondo, martial arts, hockey, lacrosse, rowing
Over 90% CAM or mixed
Symptoms of FAI
Symptoms- 80% anterior hip/groin pain- C sign. Some report lateral or posterior hip pain
Also deep ache in groin with possible catch, click or giving way
aggravated with exertion, prolonged sitting, and deep flexion. Ex squatting
Questions to rule up FAI
PAin with squatting, sitting and active lifestyle questions, sports, changes in training load
Examination items for FAI
Decreased flexion and IR
+FADDIR
dysfunction in positions of higher flexion- step downs, squat
SMall differences found in flexion and adduction strength however decreased hip abduction strength by 20%
Interventions for FAI
o Was shown that with addition of trunk strengthening better scores on iHOT12 and Vail hip score with daily training for 8 weeks (hip group 3 exercises, trunk strengthening- 3 hip and 2 trunk)
