Disorder of central pain processing characterised by chronic widespread pain in all 4 quadrants of the body

What are the signs and symptoms of fibromyalgia?
A
Joint/muscle stiffness Profound fatigue Unrefreshed sleep Numbness Headache Irritable bowel/bladder syndrome Depression and anxiety

What are the risk factors of fibromyalgia?
A
Female, age 40-50, onset may have obvious trigger (emotional or physical)

What is the management of fibromyalgia?
A
Tricyclic antidepressants (amitriptyline), SNRIs (duloxetine), gabapentinoids (gabapentin) Encourage exercise such as swimming or pilates, and CBT
