A

> 40 years, male, family history
Increased purine intake, alcohol intake, high fructose intake, obesity, CHF, coronary artery disease

A

Joint aspiration - rule out septic arthritis
X-ray - punched out bone erosion
Serum uric acid level

What is the management for gout?

A

Acute - NSAIDs (naproxen), prednisolone, colchicine
Long-term - allopurinol/febuxostat
Lifestyle modifications
