1

Ductus Venosus

Bypass from liver straight to vena cava.

2

Ductus Arteriosus

Bypass that allows blood from the pulmonary artery to enter directly into the aorta.

3

Foramen Ovale

Allows blood from RA to go to LA.

4

Changes after birth

- Foramen ovale closes due to increased pressure, fuses closed.
- Blood no longer flows through the umbilical cord and ductus venosus.
- Rapid RBC increase.
- Not in use > constricts > permanently closed off and cells are destroyed.
- All blood now flows through liver.
