how to find the vertex of a parabola in standard form
standards form = y= ax^2+bx+c
x of vertex = x= -b/2a
When you are doing transformation to the X axis and your sifting to the right, is that x- shift or x+ shift
x- its counter intuitive
When you are doing transformation to the X axis and your sifting to the left, is that x- shift or x+ shift
x+ its counter intuitive
When you are doing transformation to the Y axis and your sifting up, is that -Y or +Y shift
+y its intuitive
When you are doing transformation to the Y axis and your sifting down, is that -Y or +Y shift
-y its intuitive
what happens when you are looking for a vertex of a parabola and you only have one x intercept
that is where your vertex must be
(q∘r)(x) what does this mean
its a function composition problem
you do q(r(x) so you first work out r(x) and then plug that answer ito q
what do you do when you need transform a function
2 ways:
y=f(x) –> y= 2f (x)
y=f(x) –> y= f (2x)
what do you do for each scenario
y=f(x) –> y= 2f (x)
you are transform the y components so you multiply the y components by 2
y=f(x) –> y= f (2x)
you are transform the x components so you divide the x components by 2
if you are told to divide two functions how do you find the values that are NOT in the domain of the the division of functions
set the denominator equal to zero and solve or factor
