Q

How can heritability be determined?

A

Using a large population studies in which the phenotype of the offspring are compared to the phenotypes of the general population vs their parents. 80%due to heritability.

Q

How can RNAP be prevented from binding to the promoter?

A

Methalyte- add ch3 to Cs near the promoter to disguise the sequence
Acetylate- remove acetyl groups from the histone proteins to make overall positive charge of DNA.

Q

How is transcription initiated?

A

Demthylation and histones are acetylated

Then RNAP needs to bind a promoter and be recruited by transcription factors called enhancers. Also stabilize.
