Chapter VI
A
- Pacific settlement of dispute
- Chapter VI of the UN chapter provides for the specific settlement of disputes by a variety of peaceful measures including negotiation, enquiry, mediation, conciliation, arbitration and judicial settlement. (MENCAJ)

Chapter VII
A
- Action with respect to Threat to the Peace, Breaches of the Peace and Act of Aggression.
- Chapter VII, on the other hand is essentially coercive and designed to deal with threats to peace, breaches of peace, and acts of aggression perpetrated by sovereign states.
- Through Chapter VII, the UNSC is empowered to investigate alleged violations and then determine measures to be taken against the states concerned.
- These measures can include provisional ones without prejudice to the rights, claims, or positions of the parties concerned (Article 40), political and economic pressures (Article 41) and the use of force (Article 42).
- Coalition ops in Korea in 1950-53, and against Iraq in 1991 were authorized by the UN Sy Council under Chapter VII.
