Q

Why is the order of DNA bases important? And what happens if mutation occurs?

A

The order of bases determine the order of amino acids in a particular protein. If mutation occurs the primary structure of the protein it codes for could be altered, this changes the final 3D shape of the protein so it doesn’t function properly.

9
Q

Describe a allele

A

A different version of a gene. Different versions have slightly different base sequences which code for the different versions of the same characteristics
